Im in dire need of money/assistance. help>?

k so i thought id be eligible for food stamps since i only gross like 11,500 a year. ive never gotten them and never wanted any help from anyone but i can just BARELY make rent right now. THing is my roomate makes decent money, so the household income combined is quite a bit. his income doesnt help me in the slightest though. Its his, not mine. I cant afford to move out because id have to pay rent here plus deposit and rent somewhere else. i took the prescreening to see if i was eligible and it says im not because of overall household income i would assume. any way around this? thanks
